My Favourite Book
I have loved to read since I was about 10 years old. It was my teacher who introduced me to the wonderful written world. I joined the local library and remember vividly riding on my bicycle once or twice a week to change my books at the local hall (which was then our library). I loved it.
My passion for reading grew as I did and I moved on to books for adults quite quickly. My favourite genres would be thrillers, historical romance, sagas, some literary works and horror.
My favourite book is Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier. The plot is exciting with lots of twists and turns. It is told in the first person narrative which is my favourite way of reading. The story is of a young, naïve woman who marries a much older man with many secrets and a beautiful old house Cornwall. She struggles to fit in and is not helped by the machinations of a cold and cruel housekeeper. We follow her through her uncertainty until we see that she is becoming more confident and begins to unravel the secrets of the past.
Although this book was published in 1938 it has stood the test of time very well.
This is an excellent book which I would recommend to everyone.
